Transportation to Airport from Alexandroupolis City Center
Alexandroupoli - Dimokritos - Democritus Airport
For passengers who want to take a taxi to the city center of Alexandroupoli, taxi services are available in front of the airport and they provide services for 24 hours. Taking a taxi is one of the fastest and the most comfortable ways among transportation options. As an alternative to taxi, you can either choose the more affordable bus option or rent a car.
For crowded groups; shuttle and V.I.P. services are comfortable options that you can book without difficulty while your group transfers from the airport to the city center. Although it is not preferred by many, renting a limousine is another option.
Taxi
Taxi is one of the best transformation options from airport to the Alexandroupoli city center. The airport is seven kilometers away from the city center which makes the transportation via taxi both affordable and comfortable. If you want to travel from the airport to somewhere else besides the city center, you can contact one of the taxi companies to learn the total price of the ride and choose your vehicle.
Bus
If you are looking for a more affordable transportation method from airport to city center, you can check the bus options that depart in front of the terminal at the airport. Although the bus is cheaper than taxis and rental cars, you should keep in mind that the transportation time is more likely to be longer. Approximate ETA from airport to city center is 30 minutes with bus. When you reach the city center, you can either continue with bus or get a cab as well.
V.I.P. Cars
For your trips from the Alexandroupoli Airport to the city center, which is rather a short distance, you can benefit from the V.I.P. car rental companies. This service is preferred by the passengers who come to the city for business trips, and the pricing changes according to the passenger capacity and other qualifications.
Rental Limousine
Rental Limousine services are not highly preferred option for transportation between the airport and the city center. However, for those whose priority is comfort, there are V.I.P. rental car services with a chauffeur as well. Compared to taxis, shuttles, and regualar car rental, the costs of these services are generally higher. If you prefer limousine services for transportation from your accommodation to the airport, you can get more information by contacting rental limousine companies in Alexandroupoli and surrounding areas.
Airport Information
Alexandroupoli Democritus Airport, which is named after the famous philosopher Democritus, is located seven kilometers from the city and it is among the smallest airports in Greece and Europe. The airport has direct and connected flights to Athens and to the east of Crete, Sitia. The airport provides services such as a duty-free shop, cafeteria, post office, and a rental car office.
Passengers and those who arrive at the airport by car can use the airport’s parking lot for free for up to 20 minutes. After that, the appropriate fee is determined depending on the time you use the parking lot. The airport is busier during the summer months so if you are traveling during summertime, you should be prepared for possible delays.
Transportation to Venice City Center from Airport
Venice Marco Polo Airport
Venice has two airports, "Marco Polo" and "Treviso", but a significant number of international flights, including flights from Istanbul, are landing at Marco Polo Airport.
From the airport to the city center you have many options such as train, bus, taxi, vaporetto, car rental and water taxi.
Bus
There are two options for transportation from the airport to the city: "ACTV" buses operated by municipality or privately operated "ATVO" buses.
ACTV buses operate from 4 am to midnight every day of the week, between Rome Square and the airport. The journey lasts 25 minutes. Tickets can be picked up from the vending machines at the airport terminals. ATVO buses also work on the same line as ACTV. The bus departing from the airport operated between 7.50 am and 11.50 pm. The duration of the journey is almost the same as ACTV. If you will be staying somewhere outside Venice city center, like Mestre, you can use other routes of ATVO and ACTV.
Vaporetto
It is very enjoyable to get to the Venetian islands from the airport with the small sea buses, which are called "Vaporetto", run by the company "Alilunga" because you will start living the Venetian atmosphere as soon as you enter the city. There are 3 separate lines - red, orange and blue; which one to choose depends on your destination. Therefore, it is advised for you to consult your hotel about which line to choose and which stop to get off before you arrival. The journey with these would not be very short. It depends on your destination, but it lasts more than 1 hour. You can get tickets from your arrival terminal. You can reach the pier of boats after a 10-minute walk from the terminal exit.
Train
While the most convenient way to get to the city center of Venice is by bus and vaporetto, you still have the option to take a train. You only need to take a taxi or bus to get to the main railway stations from the airport. With the buses from the airport you can go to the Mestre station in 20-25 minutes and to Santa Lucia station in 35 minutes. Then you can reach the different points of the city by train. It is not a practical and preferred method as you need to change two vehicles with this way.
Taxi
There is a taxi company named "Radio Taxi" at the airport. You can make reservations in advance or take a taxi to the city center or other area upon your arrival. Taxi fare would be around 40 euros to Rome Square, and 35 euros to the center of Mestre from the airport.
Car Rental
You can rent a car from the lower floor of the arrival terminals. Here you can find a total of eight company offices such as Avis, Europcar, Autovia, Autoeuropa, Maggiore, Sixt, Lacauto and Hertz. If you will only be visiting Venice city center, renting a car is not a recommended option, because you cannot take your car to the city center, where you can travel with boats or by foot. If you rent a car from the airport, you need to park it in the parking lot at the Rome Square.
Water Taxi
The water taxi, which is the most elegant and most expensive way of going to the center of Venice from the airport via the canal, is another alternative. When you book in advance, it can be a bit cheaper, but the average prices vary between 80 and 125 euros depending on where you are going.
