Transportation to Airport from Cairo City Center

There are different options to reach the airport from the city center in Cairo, visited by many tourists every year. The services that the hotels usually offer or arrange for you and public transport are the first ones that come to mind.
Airport Transfer
Transfer vehicles that are privately rented from Cairo International Airport and shuttles of the Cairo Airport Shuttle Bus company will pick you up at your requested destination upon your telephone and internet reservation. You can reach the airport from any point of the city by using the shuttles, whose fares are changing according to the region you take it.
Airport transfers also include London-style taxis, limousines and luxurious midibuses. All you have to do is to make reservations and be at the place where you want the cars to pick you up.
Public Transport
It will be possible to reach the airport with the subway lines passing through Zamalek, Wasat Al-Balad and the Nile's eastern region, which we refer to as the center of Cairo, in a few years, but you can only reach the areas close by at the moment. Al Dock, Opera, Sedat (Tahrir) and Naguib are the metro stations close to the center.
You need to transfer to the Green Line at Attaba station from Yellow Line, which hosts the above mentioned stations.
Even if it does not reach the airport yet, you can get off at the Abbasiye station and complete the 15 kilometers distance by taxi or bus number 111. It is also possible to reach the airport by buses 27, 111, 356 from Tahrir Square where Sedat metro station is located.

Although it is a great merit to use private vehicles in Cairo, which is similar to Istanbul with regards to its traffic and size, there may be people who want to reach the airport by private vehicles. To do this, you have to follow the Oroba road, in the east direction, to go to the airport from Zamalek island and Tahrir in the city center.
Oroba route will take you to Airport Road, which will provide you with access to the airport, after 17 kilometers.

It is possible to reach many places such as Victoria Street in George Town by buses departing every 30 minutes. Buses 401, 401E and 401A heading to Komtar and Jetty also depart from the airport every 30 minutes. If you get on bus 401, you can also reach the bus terminal where you can take a bus to many places in Penang. Bus fare for a single passenger is usually around 3 Malaysian Ringgit. Bus fares are generally standard and do not change depending on vehicles. The bus services at Penang Airport start early in the morning and run until 10 pm. Those who would like to get to the city center from Penang Airport after that time should afford to take a taxi and to pay higher fees. You can get the Rapid Penang Tourist Passport, the weekly bus ticket you can use during the week, by paying 20 Malaysian Ringgit.
Taxi
You need to be especially careful when taking a taxi at Penang International Airport. Some taxi drivers may fool foreign tourists and demand higher fares than usual. You can prefer the airport licensed taxis or offer a pre-determined fare to avoid such a risk. The taxi ride from Penang Airport to the city center approximately costs 40 Malaysian Ringgit. Once you pick up your car at Penang International Airport, you can deliver the car at one of the rental offices in the city, or leave it at the offices in the airport terminal building if you return to the airport. The offices of AVIS and other car rental companies at Penang International Airport usually provide service between 8 am and 9 pm.
