Located in the Saxony state of Germany, Leipzig is the state’s largest city and a fairly advanced industrial city. Halle is another city located in Saxony that is much smaller than Leipzig. These two cities share a common airport. Those who want to travel to Leipzig or Halle fly into Leipzig/Halle Airport.
Exploring the city of Leipzig by bike has become a very popular and frequently used alternative to public transportation. The city is filled with rivers and canals and designated bike paths in many areas. There are many other public transportation alternatives in the city. In addition, there are train and bus routes that provide transportation to almost every part of the city. The LVB (Leipzig Transport Company) runs the public transportation network in the city. You can buy tickets for public transportation vehicles from the company’s private offices. With one ticket you can travel within the city, including zone 110, for one hour and transfer between vehicles as much as you want.
You can also purchase tickets from ticket machines located in many stations, and coin-operated ticket machines located in the trams, news stands, convenience stores, or stationary stores. You can also purchase a Leipzig Card at an LVB office or the Tourist Information in Leipzig.
If you plan to use public transportation frequently in the city then these cards will be more affordable. The Leipzig Card even offers special discounts on guided tours of the city and discounts on admission to museums and cultural events. There are a variety of card types that you can purchase, ranging from 1-day tickets to 3-day tickets, and 3-day group tickets. If you don’t want to use public transportation in the city then you can take a taxi or rent a car to get around Leipzig.
The most preferred public transportation system in Halle is the tram. The Halle (Saale) Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station located in the city center. This station operates both inter-city trains and regional trains.
You can purchase a ticket to use on the public transportation system in Halle from the red ticket machines located in most stations. There are different ticket types available; you can purchase a single-use ticket, a ticket that is valid for 4 1-hour trips, or a one-week unlimited use ticket.

Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek fascinates visitors with its spectacular views of Chui Valley. The city doesn’t have a very historic texture because it is relatively young. However, Bishkek is notorious for its nightlife. Ala-Too Square is considered the center of the city. Those who want to visit Bishkek fly into Manas International Airport. Urban transportation in Bishkek is both affordable and reliable.
Bishkek is a relatively small capital that you can explore in a short amount of time. Many cities in Kyrgyzstan are located in mountainous regions, complicating the transportation networks. However, in Bishkek the mountains are in the south and the city has a fairly flat topography. Currently the Kyrgyz Railways only operate intercity and long-distance trains. But the railway company continues to work on the city’s infrastructure.
The most preferred method of public transportation in the city is a type of minibus or public van, known as a marshrutka. In addition, there are bus and trolleybus routes that operate in many parts of the city. Almost all of the public transportation alternatives go to major stops near Tsum Center and the Philharmonia. The buses and trolleybuses run until 10 pm. If you don’t want to use public transportation within the city you can easily find a taxi. Bus and Trolleybus
Buses and trolleybuses do not operate from the airport. However, after you get on the minibus you can transfer to these vehicles. Buses and trolleybuses are the second most commonly used method of transportation after the minibuses. Buses and trolleybuses operate in a more limited area than minibuses and are much slower.
Minibuses will stop to let passengers on and off almost anywhere but buses and trolleybuses are not allowed to stop anywhere that isn’t a designated bus or trolleybus stop. Nevertheless, these vehicles are cheaper than minibuses.
Entry to the bus and trolleybus is from the back door and passengers getting off use the front door.
