About Baku

The capital and most populous city of Azerbaijan, Baku is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Having prospered after oil reserves in the country were discovered, Baku has become a noteworthy city particularly with its beautiful nighttime urban lighting. The Flame Towers located across from the Parliament stage a lighting show that ends with an Azerbaijani soldier holding the national flag.

Lovely promenades such as Baku Boulevard have been built at the seafront. Highlights to visit include the Maiden Tower, Palace of the Shirvanshahs, Ateshgah (Temple of Fire), Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial, Absheron Peninsula, Crystal Hall, Taza Pir Mosque, Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, Fountains Square, Parliament, and Baku Philharmonic Hall.
