About Datca

Datça is a touristic district of Muğla in Turkey's Aegean Region. Although the official population is 17,000 , the number of tourists the district accommodates during summer months is exponentially higher.

Just like the other provinces and districts along the Aegean coast, the dominant climate in Datça is Mediterranean. Hot summers attract many tourists to its beaches, whereas winters are mild and rainy.

Its known history dates back to the years 2000 B.C. Many civilizations have lived on the Datça Peninsula, and different cultures such as the Carians, Dorians, Lydians, Persians, Byzantines, and Ottomans established their own settlements. Historically important sites and monuments such as the ancient city of Knidos, Temple of Apollon Karneios, and statue of the Aphrodite of Knidos (Naked Aphrodite) are all here. Datça’s real tourist attraction, though, are its many Blue Flag beaches. Owing to the development of the tourism industry, there are many hotels, restaurants and other touristic facilities. Nightlife, too, is quite colorful in the summer.

One can get to Datça by flying to the Dalaman Airport. Datça is also a popular stop for most of the cruises. Public transport in the district is more frequent in the summer months.
