About Beijing Daxing International Airport
Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), which is also known as Beijing New Airport, was opened on September 26, 2019 and has become the largest unibody airport of the world. Beijing Daxing International Airport is the second international airport of Beijing, which is the capital of China and the second largest metropolis of the country after Shanghai. It is located on the border among Hebei Province, Beijing and Langfang. With 4 runways, around 620,000 flights are planned for the airport annually, and the airport has a large terminal building covering an area of 700,000 m2. With an aim to serve 45 million passengers annually and become the main airport of the region by 2021, the facility is located 26 kilometers far from the center of Langfang, 46 kilometers far from Tiananmen Square and 67 kilometers far from Beijing International Airport.
The airport has an impressive design resembling a giant octopus with 5 tentacles and an area of larger than 1,000,000 m2, and it provides natural daylight illumination of all interior spaces with its golden roof and large windows. Additionally, the design of the airport reflects the Chinese tradition and culture, and five traditional Chinese gardens combining the traditional Chinese designs with futuristic elements decorate the corridors of the airport.
There is less than 600 meters between the checkpoints and boarding gates at the airport, which was built observing the protection of the natural environment. This practice aims to reduce the waiting time. At the airport, where speed is given great importance, 5G-based technology and smart service points also reduce the waiting time substantially. Check-in procedures are easily carried out with the state-of-the-art facial recognition systems, and additional technologies that can detect age-related facial changes are used at the airport as well. Accordingly, passengers can easily pass security checks by getting their faces scanned by the first checkpoint. You can easily handle your check-in procedures yourself at 400 self-service kiosk points in the terminal. You can also track your luggage with the E-Label technology at the airport, where self-service luggage check-in service is also offered. The 5G base station at the airport enables extremely quick access to the internet for up to 100 thousand passengers.
There are 5 waiting areas specially designed for families in the terminal building, where facilities such as the rooms for changing diapers, putting babies to sleep and feeding are provided for families with children. In these areas, you can find the means such as heating-cooling devices for baby food or milk and baby toilets. Furthermore, you can also use the two playgrounds reserved for children above 3 years old on the 3rd and 4th terminal floors for 24/7.
The medical stations and emergency services on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors help passengers with first aid practices, emergency medications and any kind of medical care that may be needed. If you like yoga, you can use the comfortable yoga rooms in the International Flights departure area (3rd floor).
Daxing International, which offers VIP services to help your journey go smoothly from your arrival at the airport until your departure, also has a wide transportation system. You can easily and comfortably reach the airport from the Beijing city center or other large regions by subway, public buses, high-speed and intercity trains.

International driver's licenses are not accepted in China, so if you are a foreigner in the city and want to travel comfortably by car, taking a taxi will be a good option. Airport taxis are in service 24/7 and transport passengers to the Beijing city center within 60-90 minutes for a fare costing approximately $30.5. Beijing is one of the cities famous for its heavy traffic. For this reason, we recommend you remember that the travel time or the taxi fare may change. There are offices of many Chinese and international car rental companies at Daxing Airport. If you are traveling for holiday purposes and want to see Beijing or attend several business meetings, renting a car will be a good option. At the airport, you can find rental cars suitable for every budget, such as luxury sedans, economical fuel-efficient vehicles or large minivans, and select the vehicle that best suits your requirements. Foreigners are not allowed to drive in China, even if they have an international driver's license. Therefore, if you want to rent a car, you can easily get a temporary driver's license by following the procedure or only rent a car with a driver. If you want to go to the Beijing city center by car, you need to use three highways (Beijing-Kaifeng G45-Beijing-Taipei G3-Beijing-Kunming G5 and Langzhuo Expressway S24), which are connected to the terminal from the eastern, central and western parts, respectively. Langzhuo Expressway S24 was built specifically to meet the transportation needs of the airport, and the highway substantially shortens the time required to reach Beijing from the airport. The time required to go from the airport to the Beijing city center, which is located 46 kilometers away, by car is approximately 1 hour.Transportation to the Beijing city center by bus

Transportation to the airport by taxi
Because international driving licenses are not accepted in China, foreigners mostly travel by taxi. You can find air-conditioned and large vehicles in the center of Beijing 24/7 and easily arrive at the airport. Taxi fares in Beijing are very economical, but owing to the heavy traffic of the city, transportation times and fares may differ. Moreover, it is very difficult to find a taxi during peak hours (between 07:00-09:00 and 17:00-20:00). Do not forget that it is also difficult to find a taxi in busy areas such as the Forbidden City and Wangfujing Street.
If the weather is rainy or snowy, it will be more appropriate to use public transportation instead of taxi due to heavy traffic. If you need to catch an airplane and want to take a taxi, you can also book taxis in advance.
The starting fare of a taxi journey is $1.8 for the first 3 kilometers. If your taxi exceeds this distance, $0.32 is added to the fare per km, and $0.48 after the first 15 kilometers. The tolls are paid by the passengers, and there is an increase by 20% in the fare during the night shift (23:00 - 05:00). International credit cards are not accepted in taxis; for this reason, you can make your payments in cash or by Beijing Transportation Smart Card, Wechat, Alipay and UnionPay.
In Beijing, there are fake taxis that scam tourists and passengers or charge them with extra fares; therefore, official taxis have the distinctive "TAXI" sign and license plates always start with the letter "B". In official taxis with taximeters, the brand of the taxi company and the name of the driver must be clearly shown on the dashboard. Official taxis give a receipt at the end of the trip. If this receipt is written by hand, the taxi that you have taken is most probably a fake taxi. If the taxi is fake or its taximeter does not work, you have the legal right not to pay the fare.
Most of the taxi drivers in Beijing do not speak English, so you need to write the name of your hotel or destination in Chinese.
