Downtown Airport, the first airport founded in Kansas City of the USA, was opened to flights in 1927. Due to the natural disasters that occurred in the region during 1950s, renewal activities were carried out in the airport, which was heavily damaged. After a decision was made by the local authorities on founding a new airport in the region in 1972, the general flights in Downtown Airport were gradually stopped. To get to Kansas City International Airport from the city center, you can take a taxi or book a shuttle service at the airport.
