About Tribhuvan Intl. Airport
Tribhuvan International Airport is the only airport operating in Nepal and was opened in 1955 by King Mahendra in the capital Kathmandu. The airport, which was named after the king's father Tribhuvan, keeps his name alive. It was originally a small grass runway and in 1957 a new concrete runway was laid and terminal building was built and expanded. At Tribhuvan International Airport, 30 airlines regulary fly and carry passengers to Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Annually, it welcomes three million passengers within its two terminal buildings.

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport from where Kathmandu’s, as well as whole Nepal's international flights are made.
