Surrounded by Goyzha, Azmir, Piramagrun and Glazarda mountains, Sulaymaniyah is located in the north of Iraq. It is among the fastest growing cities in terms of industry, trade and tourism in the country. Sulaymaniyah, one of the 18 provinces of Iraq, is the center of culture and education in the region thanks to the namesake university. Among the places to be seen in the city are Malik Mohammad Road, which is in the city center and also used for transportation to different parts of the city, Sulaymaniyah Square where many shopping stores are located side by side in the surrounding area and Azadi Park and Municipality Park, which are among the few green areas. The Sulaymaniyah Museum, which has one of the richest collections of the country with its 6.000-year old female sculpture and Hercules sculpture located near Dohuk, is also worth seeing.

The Amma Suraka, also known as Red Service Museum, is among the alternative places to be seen in the city and it is an interesting museum established to display the torture and prison conditions imposed by the Ba'ath. Eating and drinking habits are similar to those in Turkey and the people here generally have honey, cream, cheese varieties, tea and coffee. As for meals, kebab varieties, rice (pilaf) and various alternatives prepared with vegetables are also similar to those in Turkey. It is also possible to try the different tastes from around the world in the Far East and European restaurants which have been opened in the city in recent years.

You can find cheap and abundant alternatives for shopping in the city, where you can also do shopping at "Chinese Market" where Chinese products are sold as well as the shopping malls, which are opened day after day. All the months except June and August, which are too hot to go to Sulaymaniyah, are suitable to visit the city. In addition, tradesmen and government officials in the city generally speak English; however, traveling with a local guide will be better for you.
