What is PNR code and how does it work?

What is PNR?

PNR stands for Passenger Name Record. Also known as the reservation number, it is a code given to you, consisting of numbers and letters for online e-ticket purchases. You need to keep this code in an easily accessible place after you buy your ticket because in case you lose or forget this code, you cannot take your flight.

What does PNR do?

You can complete several different processes at the airport with your PNR code such as:

-You can get the photocopy of your ticket

-You can edit or change your flight information

-You can reissue your ticket if you lose it

- You can purchase additional services such as an extra baggage allowance.

How to find the PNR code?

After you complete the purchase of your ticket, the PNR code is sent to you via SMS and e-mail. For this reason, it is important to make sure that your phone number and e-mail address are written correctly when purchasing tickets online.

According to the rules, a PNR code can contain up to 999 pieces of information. 5 of this information are mandatory to exist at all times which are:

Name info: The code that defines the name, surname, and sex of the passenger.

Flight tracking: The tracking code of the flight.

Contact info: Contact info, generally cell number.

Ticketing: If the ticketing process is completed ticket number, if not the last possible flight time.

Name of the person who completed PNR: Name of the person who made the reservation or provided the information.

- PNR code is written as reservation information on the right side of the mobile boarding pass.

-Normally, when a passenger purchases an online ticket, PNR is generated by the reservation system. However, if the reservation is directly made by the airlines, PNR can also be generated in the airline’s CRS system.

0: Number of reserved seats, status code, and fare class

1: Relevant PNR ID records

2: PNR owner ID (airline, CRS username, and role)

3: Another airline Other Service Information (OSI) or Special Service Request (SSR) items

7: Ticketing information including ticket number

8: Ticketing time limit
